空中乘务员Flight Attendant（又称空乘、空服员；女性称空中小姐、空姐，已婚的又称空嫂；男性称空中少爷、空少），主要的职责是在民航飞机上确保乘客旅途中的安全和舒适——例如为乘客供应飞机餐等餐饮；指导乘客使用机上安全设备以及在紧急情况下组织乘客逃离飞机等等。
Flight attendants (females are called stewardesses, stewardesses, married women are called air hostesses; males are called air hostesses, air stewardesses), whose main responsibility is to ensure the safety and comfort of passengers on civil aircraft during their journey – such as providing passengers with meals such as airplane meals; instructing passengers to use onboard safety equipment and organizing passengers to escape from the aircraft in an emergency, etc.
空中乘务员主要负责帮助乘客安全、舒适地度过整个航程。乘务员通常被安排在某一城市基地工作。基地即该航线航班起飞或到达的城市之一。
乘务员必须在飞行前到达机场，接受机长或其他管理人员关于天气状况以及有特殊需要的乘客情况的简短通报。空中乘务员要负责提前整理机舱、迎接乘客登机、给乘客领位、检查机票等。他们还要帮助乘客放置行李、挂衣服。空中乘务员很重要的一项职责就是告诉乘客应急设备放置的地点，并告诉他们如何使用这些设备。当出现紧急情况时，乘务员要通知乘客。在飞机起飞前，乘务员要确保所有座位都在正常位置，所有乘客都已系好安全带。
飞机起飞后，乘务员要给乘客发枕头、毯子等用品，尽量让乘客感觉舒适。他们还要负责回答乘客的各种问题，分发报纸、杂志、提供饮食、收拾饭盒等。
Flight attendants are mainly responsible for helping passengers spend the entire journey safely and comfortably. Flight attendants are usually assigned to work at a certain city base. The base is one of the cities where flights on this route take off or arrive.
Flight attendants must arrive at the airport before the flight and receive a brief report from the captain or other management personnel on weather conditions and passengers with special needs. After the plane takes off, flight attendants must give passengers pillows, blankets and other supplies to make passengers feel as comfortable as possible. They are also responsible for answering passengers’ questions, distributing newspapers and magazines, providing food, and packing lunch boxes.
